How to Capture a Scope in DocuSketch
Scope documentation is one of the most important parts of any job. DocuSketch gives you a couple of ways to capture it quickly, whether you prefer working digitally or on paper.
Option 1: Photo and Voice-to-Text
This is the fastest method for capturing scope directly in the app.
- Go into your project and hard hold to open the camera.
- Take a photo of the item you're scoping. For example, an oven, a floor, a vent.
- Tap to add a note, then use talk-to-text to dictate your scope. Speak the same way you would write it on a scope sheet. Something like "detach and reset electrical stove, remove and replace vinyl floor, detach and reset register vent."
- Save and move on to the next item.
Option 2: Photo of Your Scope Sheet
If you prefer writing scope out by hand first, DocuSketch can still help you memorialize it.
- Complete your scope sheet on paper as usual.
- Hard hold to open the camera and take a photo of the sheet.
- Add a note using talk-to-text. Something like "scope of work based on my scope sheet" is enough to tie the photo to the record.
The Bottom Line
Whether you're dictating line items on the spot or photographing a completed sheet, the most important thing is accuracy. Either way, DocuSketch gives you a faster and more reliable record than paper alone.
