How to Document Pre-Existing Damage with DocuSketch
When you walk into a project and find damage that was already there, documenting it clearly protects you and your team. Here's the fastest way to do it in DocuSketch.
What You'll Need
- Your DocuSketch arrow card
- A tape measure
- Any smart device with the DocuSketch app
The Process to Document Pre-Existing Damage
- Place your arrow card next to the damage. The card marks the spot and signals to anyone viewing the tour that something needs attention.
- Lay a tape measure alongside it. This gives a clear visual reference for the size of the damage.
- Open the DocuSketch app and go into the tour. Hard hold on your screen to open the camera.
- Take a photo of the damage.
- Use talk-to-text to describe what you're seeing. Keep it simple and specific. Something like "3-foot scratch on vinyl floor in kitchen" is all you need.
- Save and upload. Done.
Why It Matters
Pre-existing damage is one of the easiest things to get blamed for if it isn't documented upfront. A photo, a measurement, and a quick description is all it takes to have a clear record before work begins.
